Eradicate superstition - liberate your mind
Published 4 August 2017
On the human evolutionary time scale, we as human beings have freshly emerged from the cave. Not too long ago our primitive ancestors were still haunted by imaginary evil spirits and ghosts, they believed that lightning or thunder is a god taking his wrath and anger out on them and that the world is flat and they could fall off over the end of it, We might easily scoff at them but little do we realize that we still carry a lot of this in ourselves. Our minds have not been completely liberated from superstition. If any of the following phrases form part of your vocabulary then your mind is still partly trapped by superstition:

- 'it's meant to be'
- 'fate will decide'
- '13 is an unlucky number' (or any other number)
- 'we are doomed'
- 'it's a miriacle'
- 'it's bad luck' (to walk under a ladder, passing black cats, spilling salt, etc)
- 'blind faith"

Memories must fade
Published 17/01/2017
We need to forget things slowly if we want to have normal lives is one of the astounding conclusions the writer Anthony Penderis came to in his book The Carpet Mind. The Laws of Thinking Defined.
Through a number of thought experiments based largely on empirical observations he came to the conclusion that evolutionary forces have put this mechanism in place largely for two reasons: Firstly, we have to be protected emotionally against very bad news such as the death of a loved one for example. If we were to remember such painful news with the same intensity as the day we received it life would be hell.
Secondly we also need to be protected against memory overload. Should we for instance remember every little detail of every event we experience every day of our lives we will be burdened with mountains of useless information. Regurgitating facts from the past would then become one of our main occupations. It could have slowed down the development of the human race as we would be reluctant to learn new things that burden as with yet more information.
This concept is expressed in the writer's 5th Fundamental of The Thinking Process as follows: Memory Recall of past events increasingly distorts with the lapse of time.

Some Fundamentals of the Thinking Process explained
Published 13/01/2017
All natural phenomena in the observable universe appear to be guided by certain principles or rules, which are often referred to as Laws of Nature. Einstein and Newton regularly referred to this principle and produced their own theories to describe such laws. Einstein’s theory of relativity, Newton’s three laws of motion, Boyle’s law of gases, the four laws of thermodynamics and Archimedes’principle or law of buoyancy are some of the more famous ones.
There unfortunately are a number of interpretations of the concept ‘law of nature’ especially amongst philosophers. In the world of the hard sciences however a deduced principle will only be accepted as a ‘law’ if it could make accurate predictions possible. This in turn dictates that causal relationships exist between the elements or forces operating on or within natural phenomena. In short the Law of Causality, which dictates that nothing can happen by itself applies to all phenomena in our observable universe. If we cannot find the reason for any such phenomena to exist it implies that we are ignorant or simply lacking in knowledge.
So how could we apply these considerations to the thinking process? Firstly, it stands to reason that the act of thinking cannot happen by itself and just like all natural phenomena must be sustained by elements or driven by forces between which causal relationships exist. In short the Law of Causality should therefore also apply to the way we think and what we think about.
I set out to find some of these principles and came across ten of them, which I refer to as the Fundamentals of the Thinking Process.
Although neuroscientists have done many experiments on animal brains from which important deductions have been made about the human brain we cannot experiment in the same way with our brain as most of these laboratory experiments are irreversible and cause permanent damage.
The proofs for my Fundamentals are therefore presented as ‘thought experiments’ mostly based on empirical observations. I trust that my reasoning is so convincing that the reader will agree that my conclusions for each one of my Ten Fundamentals of the Thinking Process necessarily has to be true. I do however not claim that these are the only ‘fundamentals’ that drive the thinking process and suspect there are still more to be discovered as our knowledge of the human brain increases.

Ten Commandments of Thinking Will Liberate You
Published 06/12/2016
The Ten Fundamentals of Thinking as defined by Anthony Penderis in his book The Carpet Mind. The Laws of Thinking Defined is the first attempt ever to structure 'laws' that command our thinking. They have the power to demystify your thinking, solve psychological issues and challenge many of society's entrenched beliefs.

'Laws of Thinking' Defined First Time Ever
Published 06/12/2016
Causality is a fundamental principle of physics. It states that nothing can happen by itself and this principle must certainly apply to the thinking process too. In his quest to find the reasons behind our thinking processes the author Anthony Penderis found ten such 'Fundamentals of the Thinking Process' as defined in his book The Carpet Mind. The Laws of Thinking Defined.
